Retail and eCommerce

Retail and eCommerce

Omnichannel customer experiences backed by commerce platforms, inventory systems and fulfilment logic that hold up under peak load.

Retail technology problems are rarely just technology problems. Stock accuracy, fulfilment timing and customer data quality all sit behind what a shopper actually experiences, so we treat inventory, order management and CRM as part of the storefront rather than separate projects that happen to share a checkout page.

We support retailers building or extending eCommerce platforms, connecting the systems already in place, such as brick and mortar point of sale, warehouse and CRM, into something that behaves like one retailer rather than three disconnected systems wearing the same logo, and expanding engineering capacity through peak trading periods where the real constraint is finding people who can be productive immediately.

A recurring pattern. A storefront redesign gets commissioned to fix a conversion problem that is actually an inventory accuracy or fulfilment problem. We scope engagements against the underlying cause, not just the symptom the marketing team can see.

Where we help

  • Custom eCommerce platform development and headless commerce architecture
  • Inventory and order management systems, including real time stock synchronization across channels
  • CRM and loyalty programme integration, unifying customer data across online and instore touchpoints
  • Mobile shopping applications and progressive web experiences
  • Payment gateway, tax and fulfilment integrations
  • Performance and load testing ahead of peak trading periods
  • Personalization and merchandising engines, including recommendation and search relevance tuning
  • Analytics and reporting for merchandising, marketing attribution and inventory planning

The regulatory and compliance landscape

Any system that touches card payments falls under PCI DSS, and we scope cardholder data environment boundaries early so tokenization and payment provider integration reduce compliance surface rather than expanding it. This is usually the first architectural conversation on any new commerce build.

Consumer privacy law is now a genuine engineering constraint rather than a legal afterthought. CCPA and its state level counterparts, along with GDPR for retailers with EU customers, drive consent management, data subject request handling and cookie and tracking behavior. We build these requirements into the platform rather than adding a banner and calling it compliant.

For retailers selling regulated categories, such as alcohol, age restricted goods or certain supplements, age verification and jurisdiction specific sales restrictions become part of the checkout logic itself, and we design for that from the product catalogue up rather than patching it in at launch.

Where AI and automation are changing the work

Product recommendation and search relevance have used machine learning for years. What has changed is the accessibility of building genuinely good versions of both without a dedicated data science team, using retrieval based approaches over a product catalogue that used to require significant custom modeling.

Generative AI is showing up in product description generation, customer service chat and merchandising copy, all reasonable applications provided a human reviews output before it reaches a customer, particularly for anything involving pricing, availability claims or product safety information.

Demand forecasting and dynamic inventory allocation across channels are increasingly AI assisted, and the retailers seeing the most benefit are the ones that solved data quality and channel integration first. An AI model forecasting against inconsistent inventory data just produces confident, wrong answers faster.

Platforms and technology

We work across the commerce, CRM and fulfilment platforms retailers run at every scale.

  • Shopify and Shopify Plus
  • Adobe Commerce
  • Salesforce Commerce Cloud
  • BigCommerce
  • NetSuite and other retail ERPs
  • Klaviyo and loyalty platforms

How we approach engagements in this space

For time sensitive engagements, we build a regression suite and run realistic load scenarios against the full path a customer actually takes, not just the individual pages, because bottlenecks tend to show up at the seams between systems rather than inside any one of them.

We aim for a storefront that stays fast and accurate under real trading conditions, backed by operational systems that hold up behind it, rather than a redesign that looks better in a demo and performs worse in production.

Whatever automation or tooling we build stays with the client team afterward. Test suites, dashboards and documentation, so peak readiness becomes a repeatable internal process rather than something the client has to bring us back for every season.

Tell us what you are building. We will show you how we would deliver it.

One conversation is usually enough to tell whether we are the right partner. If we are, we will come back with a clear plan. If we are not, we will tell you that too.
